I'm Black, I'm gay, and I'm... conservative??? -wondaboysays

So yesterday I went on a date with a man who I'd been talking to for a couple of weeks. We sit down for drinks and like an hour into the conversation, topic of our political views comes up and THEN he tells me... he's conservative.

I was like "OMG, this is it. I'm on a date with a Trump supporter... and he's BLACK. What do I do now?" Now, I know that what some people would've just got up and walked off, but I didn't. I'll be honest and say that I gave the man the platform to say his peace even though I knew I'd end up rebutting every single point he had. But my question is... why?? How??? How can a black person be in support of the hateful actions being done in our country. I know the economy has been trashed by our government officials, past and present, but the wealthy only wish to become richer and keep the underling classes poor.

If you believe in that, why would you be in favor of Trump for any reason? It's always republicans saying that they're educated about what's going on in our country and what "needs" to be done, but are the most biased and self-serving individuals you will ever meet, and that characteristic mostly describes conservatives and even red-pill incels (to clarify I'm referring to these as separate demographics). They don't care about shit until it impacts them personally. You can't be a leader with a bubble mentality consisting of yourself and those who in your range of view. Leadership is more than just calling the shots, it's about taking everyone around you into consideration and making the decisions that's the best for everyone.

America is a highly populated country currently. Yet no one without a position of prominent power is seen as a human, and their worth is questioned. And majority of its citizens are merely reduced to a social security number. And if you're not a number, you're worthless.

When are we going to realize that we're wasting our potential as a country and that we could be further developed than we are and that we need immigrants? Immigrants have been the lifeline of our economy. Trans people have been the ray of self-acceptance and optimism for our society. Healthcare is a bodily essential that we all as humans will have to rely on at least once. They and more, are all being targeted. Where is the freedom? Where is the liberty? Where is the greatness? Let me stop preaching...

Being Black, gay, and conservative is confusing to me because:

1.) you're a part of a political party with leaders that most likely considers you a thug or a "reformed" thug, at the very least

2.) republicans are actively attacking and villainizing members of the LGBTQ+ community and trying to strip away their rights and healthcare.

I don't think black and/or gay people have anything to benefit from conservative/right-wing policies or beliefs. A faction of people that have been known to discriminate against both populations, separately. Needless to say, I broke it off with the guy. Another man that's come and gone. Next time, I'll ask for the check sooner.

Signing off
